TAC-CIV (Tactical Civilian)

Frequently Asked Questions

1) What experience or knowledge do I need to attend?

The TAC-CIV program is designed for those with no experience (never have touched a firearm) to those with prior law enforcement or military experience.

2) What if I don't own a firearm?

No problem. Actually you will be learning about firearm selection during the program, so this may work out well.  You will need a training firearm and we have options you can consider here or you can buy one that you feel is a better choice.  Bottom line is you will need a training firearm.

3) What type of firearm should I use?

We would recommend you use a training firearm to start, but you can also use any semi-automatic pistol for TAC-CIV BASIC.

4) What are the goals of TAC-CIV?

TAC-CIV is based on much of the same curriculum we use to train active law enforcement and military.  With TAC-CIV we decided to right-size and optimize the training for those who do not have the same access to resources or needs as LE/Military.  Ultimately TAC-CIV is designed to provide a civilian with the skills and confidence to apply tactics in the defense of their family, home and self.

5) Is this appropriate for children or is there a minimum age requirement?

The minimum age for TAC-CIV is 16.  Anyone under 18 must be accompanied to all training modules by a parent or legal guardian.

6) Do I need to be in great physical condition?

No.  Although you will be required to move, the TAC-CIV BASIC program is a low impact/movement program.  If you elect to continue on to the TAC-CIV Intermediate or Advanced programs, you will need to have a higher level of physical fitness.

7) How much ammunition do I need?

You will need approximately 400 to 600 rounds of ammunition for TAC-CIV BASIC. DURING COVID-19 YOU WILL NOT NEED ANY AMMUNITION AS THE TRAINING IS VIRTUAL AND RELIES ON DRY FIRING.

8) What makes this different than other shooting programs?

We do not tend to follow what others do, so this is hard to answer.  What we can tell you is our Law Enforcement and Military training is extremely unique.  We blend psychology, NLP, visualization, tactical training and much more into our programs.  We are not just about shooting, but about the development of the overall tactician.  If that is different or not, we believe you should decide.

9) Is this an NRA training program?

We are huge fans of the NRA, but this is not an NRA program.

10) Do I need special equipment?

You will need a the items listed in the requirements section of the syllabus.  Other than that, we recommend healthy snacks, a good sense of humor, open mind and apples for the instructor.

11) Where can I get a training pistol?

You can obtain a training pistol here.

12) What is the fee for this program?

TAC-CIV BASIC is $125 (this fee is waived during COVID-19, but that could change at anytime.)

13) I am a world-class (Shooter, Olympian, SEAL, SWAT, DELTA,).  Why can't I just take the intermediate or advanced class?

Well if you are those things, you probably don't need TAC-CIV, do you?

14) How is training conducted?

Training is broken down into an academic and didactic portion.  This is done to help explain the why and how before you actually do.  We also utilize stories, humor, videos and other techniques to assure we not only thrill and captivate but that you retain what you learn and mostly importantly can apply those skills when needed.

15) I am nervous what can I expect?

Believe it or not we have SWAT team members who are nervous to go through our training.  So you are in good company.  Our suggestion would be to trust the process and yourself.  If this is something you want to accomplish, then fight forward and embrace your nervousness.
